The Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) is a first-class cricket club in Sri Lanka. It is the oldest in the country, having been formed in 1863, and is headquartered at 31 Maitland Crescent, Colombo 7, close to the headquarters of Sri Lanka Cricket.
The idea of a gentlemen's team for colonists in Ceylon was first mooted among the patrons of the Colombo Club. The beginnings of the club proper trace back to a notice in the Colombo Journal of 5 September 1832, calling for gentlemen to form a Cricket Club, which was officially established later that year.
Located initially in Slave Island, the club played the first officially recorded game of cricket in the country against a team fielded by the 97th Regiment of the British Army. The club soon became the de facto governing body for cricket in Ceylon.
The club expanded to become the Colombo Gymkhana Club, an umbrella organisation administering various sports clubs including the CCC. The club was formally named with its current name and relocated to Galle Face Green during this period.
In 1894, the club moved to its present address at Maitland Crescent. Opening its doors beyond European-only membership in 1962, the CCC celebrated its monumental 150th anniversary in 2013, standing today as a pillar of Sri Lankan cricket.
